DEEL (DEpendable and Explainable Learning) is a joint France-Québec collaborative project between academics and industrials targeting the development of an interpretable, robust, secure and certifiable artificial intelligence applied to critical systems in the aeronautics domain (Sébastien Gambs and Marc-Olivier Killijian, 2020-2025: 489 217$ funding for UQAM for a global budget of 7.5 millions). Sébastien Gambs is responsible of the privacy axis of the project (one of the four research axis).

Mastering private data through homomorphic encryption and differential privacy (NSERC Discovery Grant, Marc-Olivier Killijian, 2020-2025: 120 000$ of total funding).
Privacy and Ethics: Understanding the Convergences and Tensions for the Responsible Development of Machine Learning, multidisciplinary project funded through the contribution program from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (Sébastien Gambs, lead applicant, 2020-2021: 50 000$ of total funding).
The objective of this project is to investigate how to best address privacy and ethics responsibly when developing machine learning models, in particular by developing a clear view of how these concepts interact with each other.
This question is studied by following an interdisciplinary approach at the crossroads of computer science, law and ethics.
LEGALIA : Towards a responsible and ethical development of artificial intelligence in law, that aims at at a responsible and ethical development of AI in Law (AUDACE program from FRQ, Sébastien Gambs, lead applicant, 2018-2022: 100 000$ of total funding).
